BANG! Data Leak of 500 MILLION Facebook Users
A cybersecurity expert, Alon Gal, discovered the massive Facebook data leak of 2021, that includes that data of about 533 million users from 106 countries, including over 32 million records from USA, 11 million records from UK, and about 6 million user records from India, in which not only included phone numbers, but also:
- Facebook Account ID
- Location
- Full Name
- Gender
- Relationship status
- Home address and birth location
- Workplace

An interesting thing to note is that, the phone number of Facebook
CEO, Mark Zuckerberg is among the personal information leaked online. Multiple
outlets reported the claims that Zuckerberg’s leaked information includes his
name, location, marriage details, birth date, ID, according to The Sun.
Cybersecurity researcher Dave Walker said Zuckerberg, as
well as Facebook cofounders Chris Hughes and Dustin Moskovitz, were among the
533 million users who had personal data posted on the forum. (Source: Business Insider)

Although there has been a claim that it is just some “old
data” of 2019, but what actually matter is leaked data, whether it’s old or new.
Edit: The service has been suspended indefinitely pending further clarification on the legality of it.
What to do next?
- Change all your online account passwords immediately.
- If you aren’t victim, remove all your personal details, including address, workplace, relation status, and all other PII.
- If you are the victim, you might face some phishing attempts in upcoming days. Be aware of those.
- Do not reply to any mail or message or call that provides you something for free or claim him/herself to be from your previous or present organization.
- You may face some social engineering attacks in which a person will try to trap you with his talk that seems legitimate as he/ she has all your information, likes, dislikes, location, etc.
- Notify your current organization about it and make sure that no one else take advantage of your name and other details. This will prevent a fraud occurrence from your name.
- BEWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY.
